102 Cherry St.
Sometimes known as the Marine Club, this basement venue just north of Pioneer Square was a regular outlet throughout the ’40s for Al Pierre’s big band, sometimes with Dee Dee Hackett singing risque songs. Known by musicians as a place where the tips were generous, the club sat about 150 at cocktail tables and had a small dance floor. Photographers snapped pictures of the guests, which they developed in a darkroom right at the club, selling hem as souvenirs.
